Setya Novanto was chosen as the new general chairman of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (Pertina) for 2007-2011 period in a Pertina congress here on Tuesday.
The former treasurer of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) beat another candidate Reza Ali, former chief of the South Sulawesi Pertina chapter, Pertina said its statement.
Setia Novanto told the congress participants he would prioritize grooming potentials boxers.
In the short run, he said, he would focus on preparations for participation in the 24th Souteast Asian Games in Bangkok.
