Lindsay Davenport back in Bali

Lindsay Danvenport of the United States had announced its decision to join the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic to be held in Bali in September 2007.

The American tennis ace made the announcement after giving birth to her first child, and after staying away from tennis competitions for almost a year, a press release from Media Relations and Promotions of Travel Works Communications International also received by ANTARA in Denpasar Monday night.

This would be a major breakthrough in trying to snatch the title of the biggest women tennis tournament in South East Asia which won in 2005 when the tournament was still called Wismilak Open.

The 31-year American tennis ace, who has just announced to play doubles with Lisa Raymond di New Haven next month. She had never returned to Sony Ericsson WTA Tour since taking part in Beijing Tournament and beaten by Amelie Mauresmo in the quarter finals.

Previously, as defending champion in Bali, she entered the semifinals and bowed to Svetlana Kuznetsova who eventually became champion.

She also played doubles with Corina Marariu and won the 36th doubles title throughout her tennis career.

Davenport also won 51 championships, including three grand slams, and an gold in the Atlanta Olympics of 1996, and later number one singles and doubles player.

Davenport tied the knot with an investment banker who also happened to be former tennis player - Jon Leach -- in 2003, and gave birth to her first child Jagger Jonathan Leach on June 10, 2007.

"I am very happy to be to play again in Bali," Davenport said.

In the Grand Hyatt Resort, Nusa Dua, from September 10 Davenpart will face the wold`s number three Jelena Jankovic of Servia, Daniela Hantuchiva from Slovakia, and south paw from Switzerland Patty Schnyder. (*)
